The Southwest Florida Region also covers a large area and includes Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry, Manatee, Lee and Sarasota Counties. Southwest Florida International and Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport provide most of the commercial air service to the Region. Some commercial service, primarily commuter air, is provided at Charlotte County Airport and Naples Municipal . General Aviation airports include the Lee County Port Authority Page Field; the Collier County Airport Authority airports of Marco Island Executive, Everglades, and Immokalee; the Hendry County airports of Labelle and Airglades (Clewiston); and the Venice airport operated by the City of Venice.
The Southwest Region is a fast growing area of the State and could possibly be identified as a CFASPP metropolitan area in the future. There are no military flight facilities in the Region. There are however, many military low-level training routes through the Region. The Southwest CFASPP Steering Committee is a vital component of the Intermodal planning efforts throughout the State of Florida. They are also actively supported by the MPO Advisory Committee, the Charlotte-Punta Gorda, Sarasota-Manatee, Naples-Collier, and Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) and Florida Department of Transportation District ONE. The Committee's continuing review of the Florida Aviation System Plan and the forthcoming Strategic Planning component will be a critical link in the ability of the State of Florida and the Region to plan appropriate for future visitor, business, and population growth.
Available for review and download are meeting minutes and Committee by-laws. Participation by the public and interested individuals and organizations is encouraged.
