Florida Aviation System Plan (FASP)

Florida Aviation System Plan (FASP)

In 2005, FDOT completed an innovative update of the Florida Aviation System Plan (FASP). This effort, designated as FASP 2025, incorporates the traditional aviation system planning elements provided for in most State aviation system plans. However, in the spirit of both the Federal Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21) and State Intermodal mandates, FASP 2025 includes an analysis of the Intermodal aspects of the State transportation system which have impact on airports and aviation.

This update also provides for an analysis of both the economic impact of airports on local communities and the economic impact of airport projects on local economies. In the FASP 2025 Planning Component, the update includes nine (9) Regional Aviation System Plans or Regional Overviews, a Statewide Overview, an Executive Summary titled Florida Airports - Investing In Our Future, and a Florida Aviation System Plan 2025 document which includes a strategic planning element. The FASP 2025 Information Management Component of this update provides for the "continuing" update of the FASP information.  This component is called the Florida Aviation Database (FAD).

The nine (9) Regional Continuing Florida Aviation Systems Planning Process (CFASPP) Steering Committees and one (1) Executive Statewide Committee are integral to this entire process. During the three annual meetings and through an increasingly automated information management system, they provide both regional and statewide input critical to the ultimate success of the FASP 2025 and a number of similar aviation systems planning efforts.
