The Northwest Florida Region covers all of Florida's Panhandle. It includes Bay, Calhoun, Escambia, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Wakulla, Walton, and Washington Counties. Scheduled air carrier airports include: Tallahassee International Airport serving the State capital and vicinity; Panama City-Bay County International Airport supporting the Panama City Beach resort areas and many other areas; Okaloosa Regional Airport at Eglin AFB which serves as one of air gateways to the Fort Walton Beach and Destin areas; and Pensacola Regional Airport which also serves the Northwest Florida Region including Pensacola, Pensacola Beach, Perdido Key, Navarre Beach, Santa Rosa County, Escambia County and a host of communities within the region. General Aviation (GA) airports include: Peter Prince (Santa Rosa County),Destin, Bob Sikes (Crestview), Tri-County (Washington County), Gulf County, Apalachicola Municipal, Wakulla County, Carrabelle-Thompson, Marianna Municipal, and Qunicy Municipal airports.

There is a large military presence in the Region. Naval primary flight training facilities are located at NAS Whiting Field which along with its two major airfields, maintains an intensive complex of 15 Outlying Landing Fields (OLFs) located within five adjacent Counties and two States.

The Naval operational facility at NAS Pensacola supports the bulk of the Navy's Naval Flight Officer Training. NAS Pensacola is also home to the famed Navy Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Team and the impressive National Museum of Naval Aviation with its many static aircraft displays and IMAX theater. For those who have Internet with sound, the National Museum Web site is also a pleasure to visit. The Air Force is also well represented in the Northwest Region by: (1) The weapons testing facility at Eglin AFB near Fort Walton Beach. The base also serves as host to the AF Armament Museum; (2) the AF Special Operations Command airfield at Hurlburt AFB located adjacent to Mary Ester and Fort Walton Beach; and (3) the Air Force operational field at Tyndall AFB near Panama City. All Navy and Air Force members are active participants in the Northwest Region CFASPP Committee. As a Committee, both civil and military members advocate an integrated aviation system.

The Region expanse causes committee members to travel significant distances to attend CFASPP meetings. The Northwest Florida Regional CFASPP meetings have consistently had the best attendance of all Regions and Metropolitan areas. The Northwest CFASPP Steering Committee is a vital component of the intermodal planning efforts throughout the State of Florida. They are also actively supported by the MPO Advisory Committee , the Aplachee Regional Planning Council, the West Florida Regional Planning Council, and Pensacola, Panama City, Fort Walton Beach Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) and Florida Department of Transportation District THREE.

The Committee's continuing review of the Florida Aviation System Plan and the forthcoming Strategic Planning component will be a critical link in the ability of the State of Florida and the Region to plan appropriate for future visitor, business, and population growth.

Meeting minutes and Committee by-laws are available for your review and download. Participation by the public and interested individuals and organizations is encouraged.
