Article:
In April 2005, the CFASPP Statewide Steering Committee passed a resolution requesting that the FDOT Aviation Office conduct a study investigating the potential near & long-term impacts of introducing the new Airbus A380 aircraft to the Florida System of Airports. In April 2006, the resolution was amended to include other NGA in the study including, but not be limited to, the Boeing 787, the new 747-8 series, as well as the new small Very Light Jets (VLJs). The Committee asked that economic impacts and forecasts be added to the study. The Committee established a Sub-committee and the project began February 27, 2008. The Sub-committee provided input on all the tasks via meetings, e-mails, and conference calls. A briefing of the progress made was held at the CFASPP Statewide meeting on July 19, 2008 at The Breakers Resort. Inputs to the tasks were received and incorporated into the final documents. The study was completed in early October 2008. A briefing of the study will be made at the CFASPP Statewide meeting on November 12, 2008. Hard copies of the Executive Summaries for the New Large Aircraft (NLA) and the Very Light Jets (VLJs) are available. Electronic copies of the Technical Report as well as both Executive Summaries are posted on this Web site on the "Projects" page.
