TREASURE COAST REGION
Next Meeting:
Sebastian Municipal Airport ,Terminal Building : 9/30/2010 @ 11:00 AM

Agenda:

Treasure Coast Region covers primarily a residential and retirement area along a part of the southeast coast of Florida and Lake Okeechobee. Four counties (Indian River, Martin St. Lucie and Okeechobee) are included in the Region and no regional airports are currently providing scheduled commercial air service.  Vero Beach Municipal Airport is experiencing significant in flight training operations with their largest flight school, Flight Safety International handling a student load of over 400 at any one time.  The airport also has significant business activity related to civil aircraft manufacturing due to The New Piper Aircraft, Inc., being based there.  St. Lucie County International is experiencing significant infrastructure and safety improvements and is now in the process of planning to for future development. A recent entry in the flight training industry of this region is Pan Am International, Inc., which is building new facilities at St. Lucie. The entire airport is designated as a general purpose Trade Zone and has U.S. Customs support. Sebastian Municipal Airport has experienced growth in operations due to international and local skydiving operations. Witham Field in Stuart is always busy due to increases in flight training operations and the commercial tenants located on the airport. Recently, Okeechobee County Airport was realigned into the Treasure Coast CFASPP Region. This is a dynamic airport with a strong Economic Development Commission supporting further development and growth.

The Treasure Coast CFASPP Steering Committee is a vital component of the intermodal planning efforts throughout the State of Florida. They are also actively supported by the St. Lucie, Indian River, and Martin County Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) and Florida Department of Transportation District FOUR. The Committee's continuing review of the Florida Aviation System Plan and the forthcoming Strategic Planning component will be a critical link in the ability of the State of Florida and the Region to plan appropriate for future visitor, business, and population growth.

Available for review and download are meeting minutes and Committee by-laws. Participation by the public and interested individuals and organizations is encouraged.
