Project Description
The first part of the project focuses on development of a guide for airport managers, designed to assist them in creating an emergency response plan for their facility. The second part of this project includes development of a guidebook and package of materials for use in educating, informing and training individuals who are involved with emergency response to incidents at Florida airports and where aviation incidents occur outside of airports. These materials will be intended to provide a valuable resource to emergency responders who generally do not have a background in airport operations or aviation.
Current Status (as of Monday, February 13, 2012)
Phase I is complete, with the Aircraft Guide for first responders being completed last year. "The Basic Airport Guide for First Responders" has been posted to the FDOT aviation office web-site, along with the Informational Brochure. The Phase II training sessions for first responders is also complete. The guidebook for the airport managers is under final review and should be completed by the end of March. This guidebook for airport managers will also be posted to our website when completed.
